Case Study Investment Mediation, Course at the Europa-Institut, Saarland University

Herman Verbist taught the new “Case Study Investment Mediation” course at the Europa-Institut at Saarland University this Summer, a one-week course teaching students an alternative method for settling investor-State disputes.
Students have been able to develop mediation skills on the basis of a practical case which led to virtual mediation proceedings.
Herman Verbist was moderator of a panel discussion on the topic with the following speakers: Dr. Judith Knieper (UNCITRAL, Vienna); Mr. Ales Zalar (Director, PMAC, Ljubljana; Former Minister of Justice of Slovenia); Dr. Norel Rosner (EU Commission, DG Justice and Consumers, Brussels).
Herman Verbist taught from 2 to 5 June 2025 the course “Case Study Investment Mediation”
Herman Verbist attended the 41st Annual Conference of the European Lawyers’ Association from 29 May to 1 June 2025 in Porto and attended the legal conference on the topic of “The Regulation of AI: Technological Innovation in Times of Uncertainty” at the Law Faculty of the University of Porto.
