Dr. Herman Verbist

He is a lawyer at the Bars of Ghent and Brussels. Since 1998, his activity focuses primarily on arbitration and alternative dispute resolution. He is registered on the list of collaborative lawyers of the Association of Flemish Bars and on the list of third party deciders of the Brussels Bar (Dutch speaking section) since 2020.

Herman is also an accredited mediator and registered on the list of mediators of i.a. WIPO and of the Energy Community and registered on the list of ICSID conciliators and on the list of Transit Conciliators of the Energy Charter Treaty.

He was a visiting professor for the course “International Commercial Arbitration” at the University of Ghent for 17 years. Since 2020, he is lecturer of the course "Case Study Investment Mediation" at the Europa-Institut of the University of Saarland.

He is the author and co-author of several books and articles on arbitration and mediation.
