COURSE CASE STUDY INVESTMENT MEDIATION TAUGHT AT EUROPA-INSTITUT OF SAARLAND UNIVERSITY
As a visiting professor at the Europa-Institut International Law School of Saarland University in Saarbrücken, Herman Verbist taught from 2 to 5 June 2025 the course “Case Study Investment Mediation”, teaching students an alternative method for settling investor-State disputes on the basis of a practical case, in the Master Program European and International Law LL.M. – “Track 2 – Trade, Investment and International Dispute Settlement”.
Herman Verbist was moderator of a panel discussion on the topic with the following speakers: Dr. Judith Knieper (UNCITRAL, Vienna); Mr. Ales Zalar (Director, PMAC, Ljubljana; Former Minister of Justice of Slovenia); Dr. Norel Rosner (EU Commission, DG Justice and Consumers, Brussels).
Herman Verbist attended the 41st Annual Conference of the European Lawyers’ Association from 29 May to 1 June 2025 in Porto and attended the legal conference on the topic of “The Regulation of AI: Technological Innovation in Times of Uncertainty” at the Law Faculty of the University of Porto.
I was pleased to attend the 26th Annual IBA Arbitration Day in London 3-4 April 2025 on “Redefining the contours of international arbitration” with four sessions
